The Schedule for Lay Ministers January-February 2021 is found here:
Dear Readers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:
As we return to Masses with congregations (although with limited seating), we are implementing a number of changes that could be in force for many weeks or months. Please review the standard protocols at
assumptionwest.org before coming to church. Note especially the need to sanitize your hands before arriving at church, to maintain social distancing whenever possible, and to wear a mask. We will not yet return to having EMs take Holy Communion to those at home.
These changes will affect readers and EMs, adding a few special tasks for several weeks as we work to get more EIM-approved volunteers to help.
In accord with the current health directives and diocesan policy, those with underlying health issues or over age 65 are urged to stay home. Anyone who wishes to do so, even if for reasons other than health and age, may have themselves temporarily removed from the rotation by contacting Mike Lednicky.
I am asking those who continue to serve to make themselves available if at all possible for any one of the three Masses in English for the next two months. As you will see below, we need help with tasks that will require several people to be assigned to assist at each Mass. We will work to expand those able to help in the near future.
Each time you serve, you will need to sign a form in the sacristy indicating you are symptom free.
Four of you will be assigned to each Mass to assist with these new tasks:
1) To direct traffic flow for Holy Communion (there will be only two stations, mine and the deacon's or one EM's)
2) To chain open the doors of the church at the end of Mass and to direct people when to leave their pews.
3 To assist in taking 4 of the new donation boxes to the office vault after the 10am Mass (we will not be using the collection baskets).
4) To rearrange the ropes to close off the pews used at Mass and to open the pews to be used at the next Mass.
5) To unchain and close the doors of the church when the congregation is gone.
Your assistance will enable us to efficiently implement the new protocols, especially as regards maintaining social distancing.
It would be helpful if you could be at church 30 minutes before Mass so that I can give you more detailed instructions.
